You can no longer brush off the importance of men’s prostate health. Recent discoveries help you to understand better of the role of prostate in your health. No man enjoy in going through their lives with the symptoms of prostate problems.
By eating right, you can prevent the disease and achieve optimum prostate health.
In this first series, I’m looking at how phytosterols can improve the health of your prostate.
Phytosterols can be only found in plants. They are of no nutritional values. Cooking or processing destroy them almost completely. According to studies, a vegetarian diet contains an average of 345mg of phytosterols per day while the Western counterpart only has 80mg. Even though your body doesn’t absorb all the phytosterols, about 3 percent will pass through the intestine.
Observations show that a minute increase of phytosterols in your diet can block the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by the prostate. High levels of DHT can cause your prostate to enlarge.
Peanuts, soy, corn oils, rice bran, wheat germ are rich with beta sitosterol, another type of phytosterols. If you are suffering from the symptoms of BHP, enrich your diet with beta sitosterol to relieve you from the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP). Clinical trials show that BPH sufferers who take beta sitosterol experience positive results with their symptoms. Their prostate size reduce. Their urination flow also improve.
The results of two double-blind clinical trials published in The Lancet, have reported that men with BPH who took Beta-sitosterol had substantial improvements in their symptoms.
Bad cholesterol (LDL) is also responsible for BPH. Medical researchers think that your body use cholesterol to make male hormones which encourage prostate cancer to develop. Beta sitosterol can lessen the cholesterol level in the prostate.
However, those with organ transplants or bone marrow transplants are not advised to take high intake of phytosterols.
