In this post, I illustrate the serious effects of Claritin on those who are suffering from prostate problems.

Prostate problems can be intimidating for men. As far as health is concerned, men do have other allergic problems besides their prostate diseases.

Common allergies such as allergic rhinitis can make your life uncomfortable. Some of the discomforts include running nose, stuffy nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, and itchy throats. In treating allergic rhinitis, you usually use Claritin, an antihistamine, which contains an active ingredient called loratadine. It helps to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. In addition, it can treat allergic skin conditions such as hives and eczema. Usually it doesn’t sedate you.

However, men with prostate problems should not use Claritin. It can make the condition worse. It increases enlarged prostate or benign prostatic hyperplasia that leads to urine retention, which makes it difficult for you to urinate. At other times, you need to make many emergency trips to the toilet. Older people who use it tend to develop prostate problems.

Years ago, you need a prescription to buy Claritin. Even though this drug no longer requires prescription, it is better to consult your doctor especially if you have problems urinating due to an enlarged prostate. If you have prostate problems, instead of using Claritin, you can ask the pharmacist to recommend other safer and effective treatment for your allergy.
