In the previous post, I discussed about Flomax and prostate enlargement. Flomax cannot cure prostate cancer. It only treats non-cancerous prostate condition such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP) or enlarged prostate.

Even though both prostate cancer and BHP share similar symptoms, your doctor prescribes Flomax only for enlarged prostate. It is possible to have both conditions together. Therefore, you should not take this medication if you haven’t underwent any prostate test. The examination will determine which condition you are suffering from.

Once you have reached the age of 50, you should have your prostate examined every year. If you are taking Flomax already, attending annual tests can help your doctor to detect prostate cancer early. Early detection may prevent the cancer from spreading to other parts of your body. Remember that an enlarged prostate may develop into a cancerous condition.
